Common juniper from Quercy
Plante : Common juniper from Quercy

Origine : France

Originally from Europe, the juniper presents itself as a snarling bush, which can meet up to 2,500 m above sea level, in the middle of which the bays, in the second year. Their flavor provided the plant its learned name, from the Celtic word Juneprus meaning acrid. In the 16th century, juniper berries were considered a panacea, a universal antidote. It is said that the one who crunches a juniper bay every day is spared by the disease. Nowadays, juniper berries are used for their diuretic and aperitif virtues, in addition to their food qualities. The aroma cleared by the essential oil obtained by distillation of berries and young branches is soft, wooded, slightly fruity. The essential oil consists mainly of mono and sesquiterpenes, and is appreciated in particular by skin or even in your bath for the return of a feeling of lightness.
