The Plant

Bourbon type geranium
Plante : Bourbon type geranium

Nom Latin : Pelargonium Graveolens

Partie de la plante : Flowery

Origine : France

Originally from South Africa, geranium was imported into Europe from the beginning of the 17th century, for its ornamental interest primarily. Geranium Rosat is a cultivar whose culture has been spread in the region of Grasse, in Provence, to extract an essential oil with a rose smell, bound for perfumery. Fearing frost, cultures had to be renewed each year. Very quickly the producers sought mild climates. Our geranium rosat is a quality from the island of Reunion, "Bourbon" meaning "of the islands". With its smell recalling the rose, it is a very important essential oil in cosmetics. It is also recognized to keep mosquitoes away. Its aromatic hydrosol, in diffusion, is also appreciated to keep mosquitoes away.
