Discover our Bourgogne Blackcurrant Hydrosol 100% Organic and Handcrafted
The Essenciagua Burgundy Blackcurrant Hydrosol, certified organic, is a versatile and exceptional product. Derived from Ribes Nigrum, a plant native to France, this hydrosol is perfect for culinary use, but its benefits do not stop there.
The blackcurrant hydrosol is primarily composed of pyranic compounds, known in phytotherapy for their antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties.
Thus, blackcurrant hydrosol treatments soothe pains associated with arthritis in the elderly and can be life-saving for animals, thus offering an effective natural alternative to corticosteroids sometimes prescribed by rheumatologists or veterinarians. They also have a diuretic effect by stimulating kidney function and thereby water elimination.
In cosmetics, the blackcurrant hydrosol acts as a pleasantly fragrant tonic for all skin types.
By choosing the Essenciagua Burgundy Blackcurrant Hydrosol, you are opting for a natural and artisanal product, combining quality and versatility for your daily well-being.

Common questions
What is the difference between floral water and hydrosol?
The term floral water, even though it is frequently used to refer to a hydrosol, is normally used to denote a product derived from the distillation of flowers. However, a floral water may also not be a result of distillation, but could come from the dissolution of a fragrance in water. Hydrosol is the specific term for the aqueous product resulting from distillation. The hydrosol contains water-soluble aromatic molecules that ensure its gentle properties and preservation.
In the specific case of the Burgundy Blackcurrant Hydrosol, it is the product of steam distillation of the budding branches of Burgundy blackcurrants. This hydrosol is often used for its soothing properties on the skin and body and as a treatment for joint pain or arthritis.
Which anti-inflammatory hydrosol?
The Burgundy Blackcurrant Hydrosol is an excellent choice of hydrosol with anti-inflammatory properties. Originating from the Burgundy region in France, this hydrosol is obtained by steam distillation of the plant buds. Its richness in pyranic compounds gives it its anti-inflammatory properties, which can help soothe skin and mucous membrane inflammations, as well as relieve joint or muscle pain.
The Plant Burgundy Blackcurrant

Plant part: Branch With Buds
Origin: France
Cultivated in France since the 16th century for its fruits and more recently for its buds, blackcurrant became popular after 1945, thanks to the famous aperitif of Canon Kir, made from white wine and blackcurrant cream.
The blackcurrant bush is a dense shrub with a height of 1m to 1.5m. All its aerial parts can be used. The fruits are known for their richness in Vitamin C and flavonoids. The leaves and buds, on the other hand, have very interesting properties. These latter, very rich in essence, are harvested between mid-December and mid-February to be distilled in our stills.
