This annual plant, once a companion to harvests, has long been appreciated for its simple beauty and gentleness. At Essenciagua, we carefully distill the fresh flowering tops of Cornflower, sourced from organic farming in Occitania, to capture the pure essence and delicacy of this plant.

To guarantee the quality of our Cornflower Hydrolat, we have chosen to distill the fresh plant ourselves.
Originally from the Middle East, the cornflower is a typical messicolous plant (hence its name “Harvest cornflower”) that has spread to all temperate regions of the world as cereal crops have progressed. This plant, which grows up to 50 cm high in rich, light soils, is gradually disappearing, destroyed by herbicides… The cornflower is also a melliferous plant that brings a touch of color to our gardens.
Among its many nicknames, the cornflower is known as the “eye-catcher”, alluding to its beneficial effect on eyesight. It’s true that cornflowers are wonderful for restoring vitality to tired eyes.
Tip: to aid digestion, add a few pinches of fresh cornflower to your salads!
