The wild carrot (Daucus carotta) has long been known for its medicinal virtues. As early as the 16th century, writings mention its diuretic properties and its benefits for the liver.
Native to Europe, Wild Carrot is a biennial plant belonging to the Apiaceae family. It is a very common roadside and meadow plant.
Wild Carrot is an evergreen umbellifer whose seeds are harvested in late summer, when the umbels close in on themselves, to extract the Essential Oil.
Among the Apiaceae, Daucus carotta stands out for its original composition, mainly sesquiterpenes (sesquiterpenols). Its aroma is intense, pungent and woody. Its gentle action and total absence of toxicity make it highly recommended for use by young and old alike.
