Mountain Savory (Satureja Montana) is an iconic aromatic plant of the Mediterranean basin, valued since Antiquity for its robust character and intense aromas. At Essenciagua, we carefully distill the flowering tops of Mountain Savory, freshly harvested in Quercy, Occitanie, to offer you a 100% organic hydrosol.
This hydrosol is an invitation to explore the flavors and scents of the garrigue. It can be used to subtly flavor your drinks or culinary preparations, bringing an herbaceous and slightly peppery note. Its fragrance, both invigorating and warm, evokes the freshness of the mountains and the power of wild herbs, offering a sensation of clarity and dynamism.

Native to the Black Sea and southern Europe, Savory is an aromatic, honey-bearing shrub that was introduced into Central Europe around the 9th century. Frequently grown in gardens in the Middle Ages, Savory was included in spice blends, and was often said to promise long life to its users. In fact, savory, with its pungent, peppery flavor, is one of the most invigorating of all plants. It has a powerful physical action, and is recommended during winter, or when morale is low.
Like Oregano, Mountain Savory is characterized by its high Carvacrol content. In aromatherapy, the flowering tops are used to extract the precious essential oil, rich in carvacrol, and the hydrolat. These two products derived from the distillation of Savory are both recommended for their antibacterial, antiparasitic, immunity-stimulating and digestive properties. To guarantee the traceability and quality of our Essential Oil and Hydrolat, Essenciagua has chosen to distill Savory harvested in France.
