Italian Helichrysum (Helichrysum Italicum), often nicknamed “Immortelle” or “Everlasting”, is an emblematic plant of the Mediterranean basin. Its vibrant yellow flowers, which retain their vibrancy even after picking, have earned it this poetic name. It has been appreciated since Antiquity for its qualities.
At Essenciagua, we carefully distill the fresh, certified organic flowering tops of this plant, sourced from our beautiful Occitanie region in France.
Its unique aroma can delicately perfume certain culinary preparations. Its fragrance, both warm and spicy, evokes the sunny notes of the Mediterranean maquis, with a subtle hint reminiscent of curry. This hydrosol offers a unique sensory experience, an invitation to a moment of well-being and comfort. Applied to the skin, it contributes to a feeling of freshness and balance.

Origine: France
Known since Antiquity, Helichrysum, also known as “Immortelle”, is a small plant about 50 centimetres tall, belonging to the Asteraceae family. This plant, with its yellow flowers that never fade, is etymologically a concentrate of sun (Helios) and gold (Chrysos). In aromatherapy, it’s also a concentrate of formidable properties in a single plant.
A Mediterranean plant, this Asteraceae loves the arid, sandy soils of Corsica and Sardinia, but also adapts well to the south of France.
Its composition of esters (neryl acetate) and ketones (diones) is characteristic. However, concentration levels fluctuate widely. These determine variable quality levels depending on origin and distillation method. Depending on the region, Immortelle flowers are distilled from late June to late July, to extract the precious essential oil and floral water with their warm, spicy fragrance.
