Rosemary Verbenone is a vigorous perennial that can reach 2 meters in height. It develops needle-shaped leaves and whitish to blue flowers. A lover of the marine climate, it is found in Corsica, in regions of southern France exposed to sea air, and in South Africa.
Highly aromatic, Rosemary has been used since Antiquity. Along with other plants, it was used in Ancient Egypt to embalm the dead. The Romans wore it as a crown to improve concentration. In short, Rosemary’s phytopharmaceutical virtues have been undisputed for centuries.
Rosemary essential oil can vary greatly in composition and efficacy, depending on the variety and origin of the plant. It mainly contains monoterpenes, oxides and ketones, in varying proportions depending on the variety. While Rosemary officinalis is rich in 1-8 cineole and alphapinene, Rosemary verbenone, as its name suggests, contains another terpene, verbenone. A non-toxic ketone, verbenone confers many of its properties to Rosemary. It is an essential oil rich and balanced in active ingredients, with a warm, complex aroma.
