Eucalyptus globulus, also known as the Blue Gum tree, is a member of the Myrtaceae family. Medium-sized, it can reach 30 to 50 meters in height. The bark of Eucalyptus globulus is fibrous, grayish-blue to grayish-brown in color, and peels off in long ribbons. The tree’s small branches are an intense green. Eucalyptus globulus produces small white flowers and its foliage gives off a characteristic, fresh, camphorated scent.
Rich in cineole, Eucalyptus globulus is widely used in phytotherapy and aromatherapy. Traditionally, its essential oil is prized for its beneficial effects on respiratory comfort.
