Origine: Madagascar

Saro is a shrub belonging to the Canellaceae family. This family includes tropical plants found mainly around the Caribbean Sea and near Madagascar. This family of small trees and shrubs is characterized by its aromatic wood.
Endemic to Madagascar, Saro generally grows in the north of the island. Its dark-green leaves are evergreen and highly aromatic. At the end of the flowering period, Saro is covered with small green then red berries, characteristic of this plant.
Saro’s virtues stem from its monoterpene content, more specifically 1,8 cineole, which makes it a formidable antiviral and antibacterial essence, particularly suited to ENT ailments.
Saro wood and leaves are harvested for distillation to extract the essential oil. The characteristics and uses of Saro essential oil are very similar to those of Ravintsara.
