When my nieces have reflux

When my nieces have reflux When my nieces have reflux

My Testimony

The moment of breastfeeding or bottle feeding is always a special time for parents. I myself took great pleasure in bottle feeding my nieces. However, I was a bit disconcerted when they started crying once they were put back to bed, even though they seemed quite peaceful just a few minutes earlier. My sisters reassured me, it happened to them frequently, it was just reflux. I then thought of lemon balm hydrosol, which they tried and immediately adopted!

My Tip

For reflux as well as for baby colic, lemon balm hydrosol works wonders. It can be given to infants at a rate of one milliliter per dose (up to 3 ml, equivalent to half a teaspoon, in a one-year-old child), ideally before the bottle or breastfeeding. The hydrosol is then diluted in a little bit of water or milk.
I also recommend using lemon balm hydrosol applied on the baby’s belly. For this, simply lay the baby on his back, pour the equivalent of a teaspoon of hydrosol into the palm of our hand and massage the little one’s belly. Since the hydrosol, being aqueous, doesn’t really massage, it is sometimes more pleasant to add a few drops of a vegetable oil (sweet almond for example) which facilitates the massage.
Whether on the go or at home, lemon balm hydrosol will also be perfect on a washable cotton pad to clean the little one’s face and clean his bottom.

What does Phytotherapy Say?

Lemon balm is traditionally indicated for digestive disorders, minor sleep disorders and states of nervousness in both children and adults. It acts on both the central nervous system and the digestive system. The sedative, analgesic and antispasmodic effects have been demonstrated in animals.

It acts as a soothing agent in case of stress, anxiety, nervous fatigue, insomnia, hypertension of nervous origin, in hyperactive children. It is a hydrosol perfectly suited for cosmetics, for oily and mature skin, as well as for skin irritations, itching, eczema, diaper rash in infants.

Did You Know?

Gastroesophageal reflux is the involuntary rise of stomach contents into the esophagus. While not serious in itself, it is common in babies and can cause regurgitation. To limit this, it is ideal to take breaks during breastfeeding or bottle feeding to let the baby breathe, keep him in a vertical position and not put him back to bed too quickly.

I Use Hydrosols SAFELY

The use of lemon balm hydrosol has no contraindications or precautions for use at the recommended doses, whether for external or internal use, even in a newborn. It is recommended for pregnant women prone to vomiting, at a rate of 1 to 2 teaspoons in a glass of water, before meals.

MELISSA OFFICINALIS Lemon Balm

Lemon balm is a perennial plant, very melliferous, reaching 60 to 80 cm in height, with dark green oval leaves and giving off a strong lemony smell when crushed. Cultivated since antiquity as a medicinal plant, its aerial parts were recommended for digestive disorders and melancholy. In 1661, the Carmelites produced “lemon balm water”, reputed to be antispasmodic. Lemon balm essential oil is present in very small quantities in the plant, making it rare and precious. The hydrosol, very versatile and with interesting properties, is a perfect alternative, very pleasant to use internally as well as externally.
