Canada fleabane

The name Canada fleabane recalls its North American origins, where it grows spontaneously in meadows and wastelands. This tall, slender annual plant is distinguished by its narrow leaves and small white flower heads, resembling miniature daisies. A member of the Asteraceae family, fleabane is known for its medicinal properties and its ability to adapt to disturbed environments.

Distilled in late summer, when the flowers are fully open, Canada fleabane produces a rare and precious essential oil, rich in limonene, terpinene and borneol. Renowned for its anti-inflammatory, diuretic and astringent properties, it is often used in phytotherapy to relieve joint pain and urinary tract infections. The milder hydrosol retains the plant’s purifying and anti-inflammatory benefits, while being suitable for cosmetic or internal use. Although less complex than other plants, vergerette distillation offers a modest yield, making each harvest precious and unique.
