La Plante Thyme thujanol wild
Partie de la plante: Flowering Summit
Origine: France
An aromatic evergreen, Thyme is a genus of plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. It comes in several varieties. Among the best-known are Common Thyme and Wild Thyme.
Thyme is a small plant that thrives in well-drained, sunny soil. Thyme à thujanol is a particular and rare variety. Thyme à thujanol grows only in the south of France, in the Drôme region to be precise.
The origin of its name is uncertain. For some, the word “thym” has Egyptian roots and comes from the word “tham”, a plant used to embalm the dead. What could be the Greek roots of the word “thymos” or “thyein”, on the other hand, evoke the words smoke and spirit.
Whatever the case, we know that it was used in antiquity by the Greeks and Romans as incense for burning or as a perfume. From the Middle Ages onwards, its use spread as an aromatic and culinary aid. Much appreciated for its fragrance, it is also known for its aromatherapy properties. Thujanol Thyme’s virtues are linked to the presence of a monoterpenol, thujanol, appreciated for its antibacterial and antiseptic effects.
At Essenciagua, we distill Wild Thyme to extract Hydrolat and Essential Oil containing thujanol and linalool.

When I want to boost my immunity
My testimony I love autumn for the palette of colors that the landscape offers. These warm colors put a smile on my face as the days shorten, the temperatures drop and the dampness sets in. They also remind me that it’s time to think about protecting myself from the viruses and bacteria that are beginning to proliferate. For several years now, I’ve been using hydrolats before winter to make sure I get through the cold season in top shape, by boosting my natural defences. My tip Good immunity...
