Burgundy Blackcurrant (Ribes Nigrum) is a fruit-bearing shrub that has been valued for centuries, particularly for its delicious berries. Native to Europe and Asia, it is cultivated for its aromatic qualities and its buds, which possess a unique olfactory richness. At Essenciagua, we carefully distill the fresh budded branches of Burgundy Blackcurrant, certified organic and sourced from France, to capture the delicate essence of this plant.
This hydrosol offers a fruity and slightly tart note, ideal for subtly flavoring your drinks, desserts, or culinary preparations. Its fragrance, both green and fruity, evokes the freshness of spring undergrowth, with delicate bud nuances. It brings a sensation of vitality and renewal, and can be used as a mist to refresh the skin and offer a moment of sensory well-being.

Origine: France
Cultivated in France since the 16th century for its fruit and more recently for its buds, the blackcurrant became popular after 1945, thanks to Canon Kir’s famous aperitif made with white wine and crème de cassis.
The blackcurrant bush grows to a height of 1 to 1.5 meters. All its aerial parts can be used. The fruit is known for its high vitamin C and flavonoid content. As for the leaves and buds, they have some very interesting properties. Buds are harvested between mid-December and mid-February and distilled in our stills.
