Grapefruit

The Plant

Latin Name: Citrus Paradisii

Plant part: Zest

Origin: USA

The grapefruit is a cross between two other citrus fruits, the grapefruit tree (Citrus maxima) and the orange tree (Citrus sinensis). Like other citrus fruits, it belongs to the Rutaceae family. It’s a small tree that can reach 6 meters in height. It grows in sunny regions and is only cultivated in North America, Brazil, the West Indies and Israel.
Like the Mandarin, Lemon and Orange trees, Citrus Paradisii bears small white flowers in spring and then develops fruit. These ripen at the end of the year. They are then harvested to extract the precious essential oil from the peel.
Rich in limonene, Grapefruit essential oil is recognized for its detoxifying and draining properties. It is also renowned for its relaxing and soothing effects.

What are the benefits of Grapefruit?

Grapefruit is particularly appreciated for its effects on cellulite and body detoxification. Thanks to its high content of antioxidants, it helps to eliminate toxins accumulated in the body and thus promotes better blood and lymphatic circulation. Due to its high content of vitamin C and fiber, grapefruit is a top choice to fight against water retention and improve the appearance of orange peel skin caused by cellulite. Finally, its ability to stimulate metabolism makes it an excellent supplement for people wishing to lose weight in a healthy and natural way. In short, grapefruit is the natural ally to tone your body and your mind.
