A return to the regional plant
Our choice of LOCAL is born of wisdom, after long travels, which have led us to return to regional plants when they are available. This led us to make the bold, proactive choice of distilling some 50 different plants ourselves, harvested as close as possible to our distillery, enabling us to guarantee real traceability, with no middlemen. This genuine requirement for traceability "from field to bottle" is essential to guarantee the exceptional quality of our products.
We work with regional organic plants, around fifty in all, from the Mediterranean and mountain areas," explains Laurent Gautun. We need clean spaces with low-intensity agriculture... We're interested in setting up a production unit in Lozère because it's in line with our philosophy of bringing cultivation and harvesting closer together.
We only distill fresh organically grown plants. Organic certification guarantees the absence of pesticides in our essential oils and hydrosols. Our processes are free from any form of chemistry. We adopt the utmost scientific rigor, producing essential oils that are biologically and botanically defined, 100% pure and natural, with no added preservatives. We distill in a passive-inspired eco-building, powered by 100% renewable and cooperative electricity, with no air-conditioning...
A circular supply network
Essenciagua has set up a supply chain with farmers and certified organic pickers close to the distillery.
Everything has been designed with a circular economy in mind, to make the most of local resources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Essenciagua controls the entire production chain to guarantee exceptional quality.
Plant residues from distillation are composted and used by the distillery's partner farmers.
A powerful local network to enhance and develop the region
Essenciagua's presence in Lozère is closely linked to the establishment of commercial and industrial relations with local economic players.
Essenciagua works closely with players in the region's dairy and agri-food sectors. In this way, Essenciagua's floral waters have found a new way to be marketed, in keeping with their food and organic quality standards.
For several years now, Essenciagua has been conducting research and development work with laboratories, health and wellness centers and aromatherapy specialists, through a partnership with the Société d'Economie Mixte de la Lozère (SELO), which also manages the department's two thermal spas, specialized in respiratory and rheumatology ailments.
This strategy is reinforced by the link found, at regional level, with the Stratégie de Spécialisation Intelligente and the development of organic farming supported by Sud et Bio. Essenciagua's project links two priority areas of this strategy: innovative non-drug therapies and the development of organic Mediterranean crops.
In 2019, Essenciagua initiated an Ecological Transition Contract, unique in France for its health dimension, aimed at developing a complementary sector from cultivation to new uses.
