A return to the regional plant

Our choice of LOCAL was born of wisdom, after distant travels, which led us to return to the regional plant when available. This led us to make the bold, proactive choice of distilling some 50 different plants ourselves, harvested as close as possible to our distillery, enabling us to guarantee real traceability, with no middlemen. This genuine requirement for traceability from field to bottle is essential to guarantee the exceptional quality of our products.

We work with organic regional plants, around fifty in all, originating in the Mediterranean and mountain areas, explains Laurent Gautun. We need clean spaces with low-intensity agriculture... We're interested in setting up a production unit in Lozère because it's in line with this logic of bringing cultivation and harvesting closer together.

We only distill fresh plants from organic farming. Organic guarantees an absence of pesticides in our essential oils and hydrolats. Our processes are free from any form of chemistry. We adopt the utmost scientific rigor, producing essential oils that are biologically and botanically defined, 100% pure and natural, with no added preservatives. We distill in a passive-inspired eco-built building, powered by 100% renewable and cooperative electricity, with no air conditioning...

A circular supply network

Essenciagua has set up a supply circuit with farmers and certified organic pickers close to the distillery.

Everything is thought out in a circular economy logic to enhance local resources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Essenciagua controls the entire production chain to guarantee exceptional quality.

Vegetable residues from distillations are composted and used by the distillery's partner farmers.

A powerful local network to enhance and develop the region

The establishment of Essenciagua in Lozère is strongly linked to the establishment of commercial and industrial relationships with local economic players.

Essenciagua engages in close cooperation with players in the regional dairy or agri-food sector. In this way, Essenciagua's floral waters find a new route to value, in keeping with their food and organic quality.

For several years, Essenciagua has been conducting research and development work with laboratories, health and wellness centers and aromatherapy specialists through a partnership established with the Société d'Economie Mixte de la Lozère (SELO), also manager of the department's two Thermal Spas, specializing in respiratory ailments and rheumatology.

This strategy is reinforced by the articulation found, at regional level, with the Strategy of Intelligent Specialization and development of organic agriculture carried by Sud et Bio. Essenciagua's project links two of this strategy's priority areas: innovative non-drug therapies and the valorization of organic Mediterranean crops.

Essenciagua was at the origin in 2019 of an Ecological Transition Contract unique in France for its health dimension, aiming to develop a complementary sector from cultivation to new uses.
