The Rose Geranium is a cultivar whose cultivation spread in the region of Grasse, in Provence, to extract an essential oil with a scent similar to that of a rose for perfumery.
Fearing frost, the crops had to be renewed each year. Very quickly, producers sought more temperate climates and established them in regions with warmer climates such as Reunion. Our rose geranium is a quality originating from Reunion Island, “Bourbon” meaning “from the islands”. With its scent reminiscent of the rose, it is an essential oil appreciated in cosmetics, particularly for anti-aging care. Thanks to their content in citronellol and geraniol, the essential oil and the hydrosol of Geranium are also recognized for repelling mosquitoes.
