In its natural state, the ylang-ylang tree can reach 25 meters in height. In cultivation, it is pruned to a maximum height of 3 meters. The tree belongs to the Annonaceae family, found mainly in tropical and subtropical regions.
Native to Asia, and characteristic of the islands of the Indian Ocean, Ylang Ylang is a tree with green foliage composed of alternate leaves, topped with large, beautiful yellow flowers.
The flowers bloom all year round, peaking between December and April. Once picked, the flowers containing the precious essence are rapidly distilled to extract a high-quality essential oil and hydrosol. Ylang Ylang has the particularity of providing several essential oils, depending on the duration of distillation.
