Rare in France, Roman chamomile is grown in Anjou in its double variety. Its name comes from the Greek, referring to the fact that chamomile grows close to the ground (chamos) and that the fragrance of its barely-opened flowers is reminiscent of apples (melos). How to use Roman Chamomile?
Roman chamomile can be used in a number of ways:
- Infusion: Add a tablespoon of dried flowers to a cup of simmering water. Leave to infuse for 5 to 10 minutes, then strain before drinking.
- Hydrolat : Roman Chamomile water is recommended for gently cleansing the face and eye contour area. Chamomile water can be drunk neat or diluted in water or mixed drinks.
-Essential oil: In this form, several uses are possible. Dilute a few drops of Roman Chamomile Essential Oil in a vegetable oil and massage into the temples, nape of the neck and solar plexus. You can also pour a few drops into a diffuser or inhaler. Finally, you can pour a few drops of essential oil into a bath to benefit from its relaxing virtues.
What’s the difference between chamomile and roman chamomile?
Roman chamomile and chamomile matricaria are both plants with white flowers. Their hearts are both yellow, but their shapes differ. The heart of Roman chamomile has a rounded shape. It is similar to a pompom. The heart of chamomile matricaria, on the other hand, is conical.
