The Plant
Plant part: Sheet
Origin: France
Hamamelis Virginia is, as its name suggests, a tree native to North America. Introduced to Europe, it has since been widely cultivated and used in Europe for its medicinal virtues.
Also known as “witches’ hazel”, witch hazel is a plant with fascinating origins and properties. Amerindian shamans have been using it for its virtues since the dawn of time. This traditional knowledge was then passed on to Western settlers and continues to this day. It is used to relieve signs associated with circulatory disorders, face, legs, intestines..
At Essenciagua, we distill it during the summer, to extract its hydrolat, from the fresh leaf hand-picked in nearby Ardèche🍃. Our hydrolat is a concentrate of its benefits. We extract less than 1 liter per Kg of plant. It is therefore of absolutely rare quality and organically grown.
In addition to its traditional medicinal use as a drink or topically, Hamamelis hydrosol can be enjoyed on its own or in a blend. We offer you Circul’O, a blend of Hamamelis, Italian Helichrysum and Yarrow hydrosols, a perfect synergy for circulatory comfort.
What are the benefits of Witch Hazel?
The Witch Hazel is the plant of the circulatory sphere. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory and vasoconstrictive properties, it is effective in relieving pain caused by hemorrhoids and reducing varicose veins. The topical application of gel or cream containing Witch Hazel has the effect of strengthening the walls of blood vessels and improving blood circulation, which helps to reduce the appearance of varicose veins.
Witch Hazel is also useful for cleansing and soothing the skin. It is also recommended for soothing the skin in cases of rosacea or redness.
Common questions
How to use Witch Hazel?
A precious asset for the circulatory system, Witch Hazel is distilled only to extract its hydrosol. This can be taken orally or used as a diffusion. It is suitable for cutaneous use to stimulate blood circulation or soothe the skin, particularly in cases of rosacea or couperose.
As an infusion or hydrolate, Hamamelis can also be drunk on its own or in a blend of plants. Thanks to the unique freshness of the plant used, this plant reveals a soft, subtle fragrance with nuances of green tea, jasmine, melon and apple.
Hamamelis is commonly used as a dietary supplement, alone or in combination with other plants. This method of use should preferably be carried out with the advice of a therapist.
